Aerial Performance & Act Creation is a two-hour four session workshop series focusing on the process of aerial act development! One Week after the series concludes, participants will present their acts in a Cabaret Evening at OM Factory!
In this workshop we will explore performance, musicality, story, character and audience engagement through movement, experimentation and play... in the air and on the ground!
The tools and techniques of this workshop are designed to help everyone from first time performers to seasoned professionals, and anyone in between. Lastly, costumes and confidence come into play as we polish your act. Choose your favorite apparatus from silks, lyra, rope, hammock, or a duo act with a friend! Participants are encouraged to dream up anything their imaginations want to explore.

About the Instructor:
You know that feeling of finding that thing you never knew you needed?
That glorious, epiphanic moment when your heart shouts ‘YES!?’
For Dana, that moment came after her first feeble attempt to climb a silk. A lifetime athlete, she instantly fell in love with not only the intense physicality, but the novel challenge of conscious body movement. Since that day in the humble Brooklyn warehouse, she has been on a mission to understand all things movement. As a performer, she regularly swings solo and collaboratively in public and private venues in NYC. Her preferred methods of dangling include silks, rope, cloud swing, and chain.
Additionally, the performative aspect of aerial arts has been a growing joy and interest for Dana and she loves helping newer performers dig in and find their performative voice. Her favorite performances are those that use aerial acrobatics as part of the story rather than it existing for its own sake.
